Enfant des années 80 né à Paris, Gregory Louis commence la batterie dès son plus jeune âge auprès de son père, Roland Louis — pianiste, compositeur, arrangeur et l'un des pionniers du zouk. Dès 4 ans, il joue déjà ses premiers solos. Quelques années plus tard, la famille s'installe en Guadeloupe, où la richesse de la musique antillaise berce ses premiers pas : il grandit littéralement au rythme des percussions, et la route semble dès lors toute tracée.
De retour à Paris en 1998, il devient musicien professionnel l'année suivante et enchaîne les tournées internationales : deux ans aux États-Unis avec le groupe haïtien Tabou Combo, puis Sally Nyolo, Kassav', Tanya St Val, ou encore Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls). En 2006, il fonde le groupe de jazz caribéen Caraïb To Jazz, avec qui il autoproduit deux albums. Depuis 2007, il accompagne également Gospel pour 100 Voix, la plus grande chorale gospel de France, régulièrement sollicitée par TF1, M6 et France Télévisions.
Depuis 2011, il collabore régulièrement avec Angélique Kidjo à travers le monde, et a accompagné la Reine du Calypso, Calypso Rose, pour plus de 300 concerts entre 2016 et 2021. Il tourne également avec Jenifer entre 2022 et 2024. Aujourd'hui en tournée mondiale avec Angélique Kidjo pour son album « HOPE », il développe en parallèle deux projets personnels : WAKANZA, groupe de musique actuelle caribéenne, et un album solo.
Expert des principaux environnements de production, il travaille indifféremment sous Ableton Live, Logic Pro et Pro Tools, du prototypage d'une maquette à la livraison finale d'un mix.
Born in Paris in the 1980s, Gregory Louis started playing drums at a very young age alongside his father, Roland Louis — a pianist, composer, arranger and one of the pioneers of zouk music. By age 4, he was already playing his first solos. A few years later, the family moved to Guadeloupe, where the richness of Caribbean music shaped his earliest steps: he grew up quite literally to the rhythm of percussion, and the path ahead seemed already set.
Back in Paris in 1998, he became a professional musician the following year and went on to tour internationally: two years in the United States with the Haitian band Tabou Combo, followed by Sally Nyolo, Kassav', Tanya St Val, and Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls). In 2006, he founded the Caribbean jazz group Caraïb To Jazz, self-producing two albums with the band. Since 2007, he has also performed with Gospel pour 100 Voix, France's largest gospel choir, regularly featured on TF1, M6 and France Télévisions.
Since 2011, he has toured the world with Angélique Kidjo, and accompanied the Calypso Queen, Calypso Rose, for over 300 shows between 2016 and 2021. He also toured with Jenifer between 2022 and 2024. Currently on a world tour with Angélique Kidjo for her album "HOPE", he is developing two personal projects in parallel: WAKANZA, a contemporary Caribbean music group, and a solo album.
An expert across the major production environments, he works equally comfortably in Ableton Live, Logic Pro and Pro Tools, from an early demo sketch through to a finished mix.
